Why won't my MasterCard work?

There are two stages of the payment process on our site the first is when our bank speak to your bank to see if the card details are correct and that they will authorize the payment.

The second part of the process is when they system ask Datacash to make further checks to see that the details you entered all match. Usually, if it fails, it will fail at this stage.

However, with several MasterCard Debit Cards the actual Datacash system (Datacash are owned by MasterCard) see it as a credit card and will fail. However, if you try and put it through as a credit card, it should work but will only charge the debit card rate.

You could read this first first and then try again.

You could also check the BIN database where by entering the first six numbers of your card, it should state whether it is a debit or credit card.

There are a few MasterCard numbers such as 522660 and 557379 that appear to have a problem as the BIN Database show them as being both. This is about as useful as a chocolate teapot but what should we expect from the worlds second largest card company.

Please note than any bookings within 14 days of arrival must be made online and that ALL bookings from outside Great Britain must be made online.
