I made a booking but it failed at the payment stage!
From time to time bookings can fail. There are several reasons this could happened and we have listed the most common ones below.
The three digit security number didn’t match the card used.
The card holders name was spelt incorrectly. This must match that shown on your card.
The address given didn’t match those held by the bank/card company. On the final booking page (under where you enter your card details) you will see a link for Billing Address Details. If the address you used on page one is different from the address known to your bank or card company then you need to click on Change and enter the correct address.
There were insufficient funds.
The Post/Zip Code was entered incorrectly. Some parts of the British Isles don't use Zip codes and in this case you could try using 00000 (5 zero's) as sometimes this works.
If you live in a flat then please don't use the flat number as Datacash can't track it.
Your booking failed at the Verified by VISA or MasterCard 3D Secure stage.
You could try booking again to try and correct the problem but please do remember that your card company may “ring fence” any intended payment and although this money never leaves your account (as it wasn’t finally authorized) your bank will protect this money just in case we do claim. This we can never do as the booking failed and the ring fencing of the money will be lifted by your bank in a few days. If in any doubt then please contact your bank or Credit Card Company.
What is ring fencing?
This is used by banks and credit/debit card companies to protect themselves. When you first process your card details our bank asks your bank if you are good for the money and also checks that an account exists.
This happens every time you spend money using your card. The reason the banks do this is to stop you exceeding your limit as you could make a load of bookings in a few hours and the bank has said that they would authorize and therefore honour them.
The system then moves to the second stage of authorization and this is usually where it fails due to one of the reasons mentioned earlier.
No money has left your account as our second stage processor (Datacash) wasn’t happy with the second round of security checks it made.
We do hope that you found this useful and will try to book again.
Please note all bookings (including failed bookings) are covered by our Terms & Conditions which can be found by clicking here.
