Destination of the week - Tenerife
Tenerife, which is a Spanish island in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa, is also known as the Island of Eternal Spring due to the climate, and is the largest of the seven Canary Islands The climate, averaging 20 degrees, is considered as one of the best in the world. Catering for young and old and attracting both families and groups, the island offers a wide range of activities from waterparks to scuba-diving, cycling to bird watching - all tastes are catered for. The north is full of forests and banana plantations with a rugged coastline and the south is more like a desert filled with a mix of white and black beaches.
Tenerife's resorts can vary from noisy and boisterous to a more relaxing style of holiday, and it boasts a wide range of restaurants, offering myriad cuisines - from the traditional Spanish cuisine to Italian, Chinese, Indian and Western. There is a huge range of taverns, cafes, bars, and restaurants ranged around the island.
One of the most popular questions we get asked is when is it best to visit. The easy answer is anytime as you’ll be very unlucky to hit a rainy day on the island of Eternal Spring. The cheapest time to visit is outside of the Scholl holiday period as flights will be considerably cheaper.
Tenerife offers a wide range of board levels from self-catering through to all inclusive. For those who like to make a cup of tea whenever they want then a Tenerife self-catering holiday will fit the bill. Eating out is a cheap option as the restaurants and bars are eager for your custom. Just one word of warning, eggs, if you order these then ask for them to be well done if boiled, scrambled or fried.
All-inclusive can work out cheaper in the long run as all your accommodation, food and drink is included in the price. Just make sure you go for a hotel or aparthotel rather than a self-catering establishment. The latter was built without the space need for commercial kitchens and if you go for the cheaper option you’ll be limited on the choice of dishes served.
