Destination of the month Fuerteventura

Destination of the month - Fuerteventura

The second largest Canary Island of Fuerteventura sits just 70 miles from the North African coast and shares the same latitude (and therefore weather conditions) with the renowned holiday destinations of Florida and Mexico.  With over 150 sandy beaches you’ll always have room to do your own thing. The main resorts of Caleta de Fuste, Corralejo, Costa Calma and Jandia all offer an array of seaside facilities including bars, cafes, restaurants and the beach offers all the usual amenities plus some great windsurfing schools.

The busiest resort on Fuerteventura is Caleta de Fuste (locals call it Castillo), and if you’re seeking nightlife then this is the place to be. The long main high street has several restaurants, bars and nightclubs so you’ll be spoilt for choice. Jandia in the southeast tip of the island attracts guest from all over Europe including out German friends and part of the beach is allocated to naturist. Close by lies Morro Jable which is a typical Canarian fishing village which has retained most of its charm. Fuerteventura is easily accessible from the other islands by ferry or air. The airport is situated close to the island’s capital of Puerto del Rosario. Check out our Fuerteventura holidays including all inclusive holidays in Fuerteventura plus our wide selection of hotels in Fuerteventura.

One of the most popular questions we get asked is when is it best to visit. The easy answer is anytime as you’ll be very unlucky to hit a rainy day on the island as iit stays warm throughout the year. The cheapest time to visit is outside of the Scholl holiday period as flights will be considerably cheaper.

Fuerteventura offers a wide range of board levels from self-catering through to all inclusive. For those who like to make a cup of tea whenever they want then a Fuerteventura self-catering holiday will fit the bill. Eating out is a cheap option as the restaurants and bars are eager for your custom. Just one word of warning, eggs, if you order these then ask for them to be well done if boiled, scrambled or fried.

All-inclusive can work out cheaper in the long run as all your accommodation, food and drink is included in the price. Just make sure you go for a hotel or aparthotel rather than a self-catering establishment that also offers all-inclusive. The latter was built without the space need for commercial kitchens and if you go for the cheaper option you’ll be limited on the choice of dishes served.

Do yourself a favour and take a look at our Fuerteventura holidays page and book yourself some sunshine today.
